Take I-70 to Exit 49. Go north on Highway 13. At stop light (Fairground Ave.) turn right. Turn left on Walnut. The Community Center is one block north on the left. Parking is available on the right.
2008 Season
Dancing with the Stars - Higginsville Style is a "Dancing with the Stars"-type ballroom dance contest to raise money for different organizations serving the local community. Revenue from ticket sales from all shows will be divided equally among 6 community organizations.
Show 1: Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - 7pm
All 6 couples perform. Dances are Cha-Cha and Foxtrot. Judges score performances and audience votes at end of show for their favorite couples.
Show 2: Tuesday, July 15, 2008 - 7pm
All 6 couples perform. Dances are Quick Step and Swing. Two couples with lowest combined score and lowest audience votes from last week eliminated. Audience casts votes for remaining 4 couples.
Show 3: Tuesday, July 29, 2008 - 7pm
Remaining 4 couples perform. Dances are Rumba and Waltz. One couple with lowest combined score and lowest audience votes from last week eliminated. Audience casts votes for remaining 3 couples.
Show 4: Tuesday, August 12, 2008 - 7pm - Final Show
Remaining 3 couples perform. Dance will be Freestyle. Judges score performances and audience casts votes for favorite couple. Guest Emcee, Johnny Rowlands from KMBC Channel 9, will perform a dance routine with Angela Engle from Louis & Company. Special performance by The Swingsters, a high-energy swing group voted "#1 entertainment in Kansas City." Special performance by Louis and Laura, world class, six-time French National Champion ballroom dancers. Announcement of winner of competition.
